Making Summer Cool for Cats

Here are some tips for our feline friends to keep them happy on those long days of summer we’re all dreaming about!

Take care outdoors
Cats can get sunburnt too, so we advise you put some sun block on the ears and nose especially of light coloured cats to prevent this. Also ensure that your cat has access to shady areas in the garden. Make sure there are plenty of water bowls, even out in the garden and put some ice cubes in to keep it cool.

If your cat is an intrepid explorer it is vital that they wear a safety collar with a snap closure. Cats can easily break free from these if caught. Elasticated collars are not advised as they can cause injury.

Hot weather means shedding fur so routine brushing is more important over the summer months. It will help your cat keep cool and prevent the build up of hairballs.

While you’re away
When choosing a cattery over your vacation, look for one that is approved by the Feline Advisory Bureau and ensure your cat has been vaccinated before their stay.

Flea prevention
Fleas love the summer too therefore we recommend the use of Frontline combo every 4 weeks.

Treat your cat
For a real treat, why not grow some catnip in your garden? You will get almost as much fun from this as your cat!
