VETERINARY SURGEONS

Croft Veterinary Surgeons opened 20 years ago on 13th April 1987 at 37 Croft Road, Blyth, bringing full-time veterinary services to the town for the first time. Malcolm Ness and Judith Joyce founded the practice with the aim of providing the best possible standards of patient treatment and client care available and to develop these standards over the years. The practice is committed to proving the greatest possible expertise, backed by the most modern equipment and a caring, highly trained staff.

In 2006, we now have seven practices and employ more than 30 staff - veterinary surgeons, nurses, receptionists plus other essential back-up staff. As well as the RCVS approved hospital in Blyth, we now have branches in Ashington, Cramlington, Gosforth, Monkseaton, North Shields and Walkerville providing the highest level of care in small animal treatment.

Since founding the practice, Malcolm Ness and Judith Joyce have committed themselves to improving their clinical expertise and gaining further qualifications and encouraging all the vets, nurses and other staff that join the practice to do the same. Malcolm Ness is recognised as a Specialist in Small Animal Orthopeadic Surgery by both the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, while Judith Joyce holds the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Dermatology, a postgraduate qualification which demonstrates advanced experience and expertise in small animal dermatology. Jonathan Bell gained the Certificate in Small Animal Surgery several years ago and has built on this experience and is now prepairing for the European specialist qualification in surgery. Louise McLean holds the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and is registered for RCVSFellowship in endocrine disease of the dog. Raymond Owen, who has a special interest in heart problems in dogs and cats is studying towards the Certificate in Small Animal Cardiology. Rieke Hettrick, who works at our Ashington branch has a particular interest in rabbit medicine and has specialised her expertise in the treatment of rabbit health problems.

Croft Veterinary Surgeons can therefore offer you special expertise beyond that which you can normally find in a veterinary practice, no matter what problem your pet may have.

As pet owners all our staff know that , as well as wanting your pet to receive the best possible care, you are also worried when your pet needs to visit the practice. The band of receptionists are there to answer your queries and spend time discussing your concerns.

Our team of dedicated nurses have the technical expertise to help the vets in the treatment of your pet, but they are also there to look after you and your pet and to answer any more technical queries which may arise.

People travel for many miles to visit Croft Vets for special treatment for their patients. The residents of Tyneside and South-East Northumberland have Croft Vets on their doorstep to help with all of their pet-related problems.
